China Grown Rice Defiled With Heavy Metals and Chemicals

According to the startling facts revealed by the New Centurymagazine, the rice crop cultivated within the Chinese region is highly contaminated with the presence of heavy metals.

It was unveiled by the findings of the report that no less than 10% of the total crop is stained with the presence of harmful metals, which are quite injurious to health of the people consuming it.

With already struggling from food deficiency, this one has come as a severe shock for this over-populated country.

It was earlier reported that country is already fighting with the adulterations in red wine, bleached mushrooms, fake tofu and recycled cooking oil.

It is alleged that it is the growing concept of industrialization, which has polluted both land and water meant for rice cultivation.

Rice is mainly grown in Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangdong provinces of Southern China and it is a staple food crop consumed by a large number of Chinese people.

The report confirmed for the presence of cadmium, arsenic, mercury and other harmful heavy metals in a large proportion of rice crop and alleged that despite being aware of it, there were no researches or preventive measures carried out by the concerned departments.

Health experts have warned that intake of heavy metals like cadmium can lead to bone thinning and even kidney failure among other lethal medical conditions.
